Use your dollar store sight words and make them into a fun thematic game.
When we first started homeschooling (before I even knew Charter Schools existed), I couldn't afford much. One way I would entertain my kids and also teach them was to do fun stuff with our dollar store supplies. Our Sight Word Diving Discoveries were born!
Here is how it works:
-purchase sight words (preferably from a dollar store)
-purchase goggles (I found them at a dollar store)
-hide them around your home or back/front yard
-have your student find it, and have them read them to you, or tell you the answer.
And....BINGO....you have an easy and cheap learning game for the younger ones.
*note: older kids can use multiplication cards, etc.
